A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for
Jamaica as Tropical Storm
Fay moves between Haiti and Cuba
and to the northeast of the island.
This means that tropical storm conditions pose a possible threat to Jamaica within the next 36 hours.
At one Saturday afternoon, the centre of Fay was located near Latitude 19.2 degrees north and Longitude 74.9 degrees west.
This was about 200 kilometres or 125 miles northeast of Morant Point.
Fay is moving towards the west near 26 kilometres per hour and a general turn toward the west-northwest is expected later Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 75 kilometres per hour, with higher gusts, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 165 kilometres from the centre.
Tropical Storm Fay is forecast to remain over Jamaica's northern coast as it moves toward the southern coast of eastern Cuba on Saturday night and Sunday.
As early as Saturday evening, Jamaica could begin to experience outbreaks of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially over northern parishes.
Marine conditions will also deteriorate and small craft operators, especially fishers north and east of the island, are encouraged to exercise extreme caution and not to venture far from land.
Offshore winds are expected to reach near gale force on Saturday evening.
