The law firm Knight, Junior & Samuels has written to Jamaica Labour Party campaign chairman Dr. Christopher Tufton, demanding that his retraction of a recording of retired legislator K.D. Knight played at a JLP meeting on Sunday.
In the recording, Mr. Knight was heard suggesting he has no confidence in People's National Party President Mark Golding's ability to lead Jamaica.
Attorney Bert Samuels says the audio was manipulated and is demanding that Dr. Tufton publicly retract its attribution to his client by 11 a.m., this Friday, August 15.
The letter says the retraction and apology must be agreed on by both legal teams, sent to all media houses, and published on the Jamaica Labour Party's social media pages.
It says a retraction could help mitigate the damage caused to Mr. Knight, but would not waive his right to take legal action.
The law firm says it is prepared to negotiate a settlement with Dr. Tufton's attorneys.
