Seven people were shot, two fatally on Third Street in Rema, Trench Town on Thursday evening.

The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Romaine Maragh, otherwise called 'Coolie' and 26-year-old Desmore McKenzie, otherwise called 'Nico' - both from the Kingston Western community.

A ten-year-old boy is among the wounded.

It's reported that about 7:30 p.m., a group of people was sitting along the roadway playing dominoes when a car approached.

Four men alighted and opened fire. They escaped in the vehicle.

Seven people were left with bullet wounds.

They were taken to hospital where Maragh and McKenzie were pronounced dead and the others admitted.

The Kingston Western Police is being assisted by the Major Investigations Division in its probe of the incident.

Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps, head of the Kingston Western Police, said the incident is a continuation of a conflict between the Fatherless and Buckers gangs, based in Rema, Trench Town.

"We believe that this was carried out by members of the Fatherless gang in reprisal for the murder of a top tier Fatherless gang member who was shot and killed August of this year. We are at this time trying to locate 'Pepe', 'Shamar', 'Juju'. These persons, we believe, can assist the MID in our investigation," SSP Phipps disclosed.

He said the police will intensify efforts to locate the gangsters and has appealed for the public to share information.
