A woman suspected of recruiting Haitian gang members for a criminal syndicate in St. James was captured on Monday as part of Operation Endgame.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the woman and four Haitian nationals were taken into custody after operations were carried out at two locations in Blue Hole, Montpellier, St. James during a search for a major violence producer.
The St. James police say their intelligence is pointing to the female allegedly being involved in recruiting Haitians for a gang based in St. James.
She is being questioned by detectives of the Criminal Investigations Branch.
In another operation last Friday, the St. James police arrested two men following the seizure of two illegal weapons along Bougainvillea Drive, Bogue Heights in Montego Bay.
The cops say they intercepted a black Toyota Crown following a brief chase after the driver disobeyed the police signal to stop and sped off along the Bogue Heights main road.
During a search of the vehicle, the police say they found lottery scamming paraphernalia.
The driver and the passenger were arrested.
They were taken to a residence during a follow-up search and an illegal weapon seized.
Additionally, on Wednesday morning the St. James police observed an amputee hopping into nearby bushes along the Ironshore main road.
He was later pursued and held.
During a search, the amputee was reportedly found in possession of an illegal loaded gun with several rounds of ammunition.
The cops say another illegal gun was also seized on Tuesday and a 43-year-old man arrested in Montego West Village, Granville, St. James.
Operation Endgame was launched on October 1 to target gangs and criminal syndicates operating in St. James.
More than a dozen suspects who were wanted for serious crimes have been arrested and charged over the last two weeks.
