A Trelawny Doctor and a
woman were arrested on the weekend for reportedly assisting a minor to
undertake an abortion.
Dr. Kenneth Enyi, 44, of Retreat Heights and Claudia Waysome, 36, a security guard of Hampden are charged with four counts of procuring an abortion.
Miss Waysome's son is said to have impregnated the minor.
It is understood that the abortion took place last year and the 14-year-old is again pregnant.
According to Superintendent Linnette Williams Martin, Head of the Trelawny Police Division, in August last year, Miss Waysome gave the teenager five pills before she was taken to Dr Enyi to abort her foetus.
Six months later, the teenager is again pregnant and plans were reportedly in place for another abortion.
The police got wind of the situation and went to Dr. Enyi's office in Falmouth where both he and Miss Waysome were arrested and charged with procuring an abortion, conspiracy to abort, endangering the life of a minor and accessory before and after the fact.
The teenaged girl is in state care while Miss Waysome's 20-year-old son is on the run and being sought by the police.
Dr. Enyi has since been granted $500,000 bail while Miss Waysome remains behind bars.
They are to appear in the Falmouth Resident Magistrate's Court on February 24.
The police say they don't know the whereabouts of the teenager's parents.
