Nine days after Dean Barrow assumed office as Prime
Minister of Belize, information has emerged that his son is in prison in the United States.
A report on Caribworldnews.com claims that Jamal "Shyne" Barrow, a rapper based in New York, is in prison serving a ten year sentence for weapons possession and first degree assault.
The former Bad Boy records and Def Jam recording artist was jailed in 2000.
The charges relate to an incident on December 27, 1999 at a club in Manhattan New York, where Shyne, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and actress Jennifer Lopez were partying.
It is reported that Shyne and P. Diddy got into an argument with another group of patrons.
The argument escalated into a fight and shots were fired.
Three persons were injured in the shooting and Shyne was arrested after police found him with a gun in his waistband and some bystanders identified him as one of the shooters.
