Caribbean tsunami warning systems inadequate

The Chief Meteological Officer Keithly Meade says that tsunami warning systems for the Caribbean are inadequate.

He lamented that the warning systems currently in place are only good events originating in certain areas.

Mr Meade's announcement follows yesterday's 7.6 earthquake which rocked Costa Rica, leaving two persons dead and resulted in lost of power in some areas of the capital of San Jose.

A Caribbean-wide tsunami was issued for the Caribbean in error but was later canceled.

The event brought to light questions about the Caribbean's preparedness and readiness for a tsunami.
