The Cayman Islands will this week host the first forensic workshop for the newly formed Caribbean Association of Prosecutors.
The conference will comprise delegates from the Caribbean Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth Caribbean countries, United Kingdom, Canada and crime scene managers and police officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
The first training workshop entitled "Enhancing the Effectiveness of Prosecutors in a Challenging Environment" will cover transnational crime and forensic science.
Cayman's Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryll Richards QC says the workshop is aimed at enhancing delegates' understanding of critical forensic and scientific data and analysis, transnational crime issues and the care of victims of crimes.
The workshop will see experts from the United Kingdom, Canada and the Eastern Caribbean providing forensic science and pathology training on homicide, expert evidence in DNA profiling, sexual assault, blood spatter pattern analysis and ballistics.
