Covid-19 and volcanic eruption affects CSEC students in St. Vincent

St Vincent's Minister of Primary and Secondary Education , Curtis King, says students were not adequately prepared for this year's CSEC exams because of the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the April 2021 eruption of La Soufriere volcano.

Mr King further said his ministry is conducting a "detailed analysis" of the results of the examination, which showed a 16.93 percentage point decline in student performance compared to 2021.

The pass rate was a 7.78 percentage point slide compared to 2019, the ministry's preferred reference year.
