The crowds of uniformed school children wandering through the streets of St John’s Antigua after school will disappear if the Ministry of Education is successful in introducing a curfew system in an effort to curb loitering and deviant behaviour.
Education Minister Dr Jacqui Quinn-Leandro said the ministry is hoping to bring the curfew into effect within the 2012-2013 academic year.
She said once this comes into effect, a school child who is not attending an after school class or doing an important errand should not be in the city of St John’s.
An identification system will also be introduced.
