Three persons were killed when a Fly Montserrat plane crashed at V.C Bird International Airport in Antigua yesterday.
One other passenger is rerportedly battling for life at a hospital in the capital, St John.
Just after 4 o'clock in the afternoon the plane crashed onto the eastern section of the runaway shortly after take off.
The nine-seater Britten Norman Islander Registration VP-MON destined for Montserrat suffered damage to the underbelly and one wing.
It’s believed to be the first major aviation incident in antigua since a plane nosedived into the sea at Dutchman’s Bay in the 1980s.
Reports suggest that weather conditions may have been a factor as there were heavy rains, thunder and lightning during the time of the crash.
