Puerto Rico Police say they have smashed a drug ring involving almost 200 people which had amassed over US$250 million in the last few years.
The operation comes a week before the country is due to host the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Games.
Some 500 Puerto Rican drug enforcers along with law enforcement agents from throughout the Caribbean were involved in the dawn raids in the West Coast city of Mayagüez.
So far 158 people have been arrested and police say they have seized more than US$1 million in property in an attempt to dismantle drug trafficking gangs.
A US Drug Enforcement Specialist Agent said the operation is still ongoing.
