NY Immigration Coalition slams bill allowing deportation for nonviolent crime charges

The New York Immigration Coalition has strongly condemned the passage of legislation that would allow for the deportation of undocumented Caribbean and other immigrants charged with but not found guilty of nonviolent crimes, including burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting.

All 48 Democrats in the House of Representatives voted with all the Republicans in passing the bill, which is expected to receive bipartisan support in the US Senate on Friday.
