The Antigua & Barbuda Met Service says Antigua could face worsening drought conditions before the end of the year, with parts of the island projected to reach Drought Emergency status.
Meteorologists said conditions during the three-month period from June through August were moderately dry, while the six-month period from March through August was severely dry.
The Meteorological Service said the outlook could require authorities to implement drought management and response plans, enforce water restrictions and recycling measures, protect resources, repair infrastructure and monitor impacts.
