Asafa Powell misses the mark at DN Galan Super Grand Prix

Jamaica's world record holder Asafa Powell failed to break his own stadium record and win a one carat diamond in the men's 100 meters at the DN Galan Super Grand Prix in Stockholm, Sweden as he posted 10.04 seconds to hang on for the victory in his last race before the World Championships. This month Powell was followed across the line by Bahamian Derrick Atkins in 10.05 seconds.

Compatriot Michael Frater finished 5th in 10.24 seconds.

Nesta Carter's 10.22 seconds was second in race two behind

Norway's Saidy Ndure Jaysuma, 10.07.

There was more disappointment for Sherone Simpson as running in her final competitive 100 meters to prove her fitness for the World Championship, she finished eighth in race one in 11.61 seconds behind overall winner American Me'lisa Barber, 11.03.

Kerron Stewart's 11.29 seconds was third with Sherri Ann Brooks fourth in 11.34 seconds.

Another Jamaican, Shelly Ann Frazer clocked 11.57 seconds to win race two.

Clement Campbell's 20.66 seconds was third in the men's 200 meters behind American winner Joshua Johnson 20.32.

Ricardo Williams was 7th in 20.93.

Novlene Williams 50.56 was third behind the American pair of Allyson Felix 49.70 and Sanya Richards 49.72.

Shericka Williams was 8th in 52.29.

In the men's equivalent Sanjay Ayre posted his first sub-45 clocking of the season, 44.98, to finish behind Olympic and world champion Jeremy Wariner, who broke his stadium record to post a new world leading 43.50.

Ricardo Chambers was 6th in 45.21.

The Ethiopian, Kenenisa Bekele also walked off with a one carat diamond after blowing past the field in the 3,000 meeters to set a new stadium record at 7 minutes 25.79 seconds.
