Atkinson secures double gold at final leg of Short Course World Cup Series

Alia Atkinson took gold in the women's 50 meter breaststroke on Sunday’s second day of the 8th and final leg of the FINA Short Course World Cup Series in Singapore. She clocked 29.29 seconds to take the event ahead of Emily Seebohm of Australia 29.96 and Rikke Pedersen 30.32.

This was the second gold for Atkinson at the meet, as on Saturday she won the 100 metres breaststroke, clocking 1 minute, 03.79 seconds. Atkinson was rebounding from an injury-hit outing in Tokyo last week.

She ended 5th overall in the rankings for the series after amassing 210 points. Sweden's Sara Sjöström took the overall top spot with 629 points
