Atomica to clash with Mamma Mia in Ian Levy Cup

Reigning Horse of the Year Atomica and 1,000 Guineas winner Mamma Mia are set to do battle in the 4th running of the Ian Levy Cup, for a purse of $4 million on the New Year's Day race programme.

The post position draw for the Graded Stakes and Open Allowance contest for 3 year old and up over 8-and-a-half furlongs was held on Thursday.

Conditioned by Gary Subratie and to be ridden by customary jockey Dane Dawkins, Atomica was drawn in gate three.

Atomica's stablemate Sistren Treasure will have Javaniel Patterson aboard out of gate two. Mama Mia was drawn inside in gate one.

The Jason DaCosta-trained filly will have Phillip Parchment in the saddle. DaCosta's other runner, Is That A Fact, will from four with champion jockey elect Reyan Lewis riding.

Richard Azan's Perfect Brew, with Tevin Foster astride, completes the small field out of gate five. There will also be several other trophies on offer on the day.
