Aussies crush Windies in first test

The West Indies went down by 164 runs to Australia on final day of the first test in Perth. The Windies started the final day on 192-3 and needing 306 runs for an unlikely victory with their hopes revolving around captain Kraigg Brathwaite who resumed on 101 and Kyle mayers who was yet to score.

However, Brathwaite added only 9 more runs, while Mayers went for 10.

Chase 55 and Joseph 43, combined for an enterprising 82-run eighth partnership before the West Indies were bowled out for 333. Spinner Nathon Lyon bagged 6-128. Scores in the match: Australia 598-4 declared and 182-2 declared, the West Indies 283 and 333.

The second and final test which will be a day /night affair,  bowls off on December 7 but as the Windies prepare they  will be sweating over the fitness of pacer Kemar Roach and Mayers with Raymon Reifer already ruled out of the series with injury.
