Blackwood hits unbeaten century for Scorpions against Harpey Eagles

Commentary on Jermaine Blackwood reaching his century against the Harpey Eagles

Led by an unbeaten century from Jermaine Blackwood, the Jamaica Scorpions closed at 282-6 after electing to bat against the Guyana Harpy Eagles on the opening day of their fourth round regional 4-day game at the Diego Martin Cricket Ground in Trinidad and Tobago.

Blackwood ended on 110, which has so far included 14 fours and a six with Aldane Thomas being the other not out batsman on 35.
 
Earlier, the Scorpions who elected to bat, lost opener Leroy Lugg for 5 with only 17 runs on the board.
 
Skipper John Campbell 37; Oraine Williams nought and Paul Palmer Junior 18, then followed as Jamaica wobbled to 99-4.
 
However, Blackwood and Alwayne Williams shared a 5th wicket partnership of 112 before Williams went for 51 at 211-5.
 
Blackwood mixed solid defence with aggression to bring up his century and also became the 10th batsman to reach three figures in this season's competition. Derval Green was the other batsman dismissed on the day for 13. 

Bowling for the Harpy Eagles, Gudakesh Moti has so far taken 2-39 and Kevin Sinclair 2-74 with a wicket each for Demetri Cameron and Veerasammy Permaul.

In other games, Barbados Pride are trailing the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by 46 runs at Tarouba. The Bajans closed on 87-2 with Raymon Reifer getting 32 and Sheyne Mosley 24 in reply to 133 all out made by the Red Force.

The Red Force who were sent in to bat, found the going tough as only Imran Khan 29, Terrance Hinds 25 and Joshua da Silva 23, offered any resistance against Jomel Warrican 3-21 and two wickets each for Akeem Jordan, Ramon Simmonds and Justin Greaves.

Meanwhile, an undefeated 104 by lower order batsman Colin Archibald, guided the Leeward Islands Hurricanes to 301-9 at stumps after electing to bat against the Windward Islands Volcanoes in Port of Spain.

Jahmar Hamilton weighed in with 52, Terrance Ward 30 and Devon Thomas 25. Preston McSween has so far claimed 4-28 and Kenneth Dember 2-77.
