Usain Bolt became the first man in the history of the IAAF World Championships to win the sprint double twice when he surged to victory in the men's 200 meter final today ahead of compatriot warren weir in Moscow, Russia.
Bolt recorded his 3rd world 200 meter gold medal clocking 19.66 to win ahead of compatriot weir, who equaled his personal best of 19.79.
Another Jamaican Nickel Ashmeade missed out on the bronze by one hundredth of a second placing 4th in 20.05. Curtis Michelle of the USA took the bronze in 20.04.
The win ensured bolt moved to 9 world championship medals and needs just one more gold to join American Carl Lewis atop the all time multiple medalists list.
Bolt says even he is amazed by his achievement in such short time.
Elsewhere on the day for Jamaica Andrea Bliss 12.96, Shermaine Williams 12.96 and Danielle Williams 13.13 failed to progress to the final of the women' 100 meter hurdles final.
With one day to go the country is in 3rd place on the medal table with 7 medals, 4 gold, 2 silver and one bronze behind the USA, 20 medals including 6 gold and leaders Russia 15 medals consisting of 7 gold.
