Bolt still track and field's highest paid athlete

Usain Bolt, who is in the running for a sixth hold on the RJR Sports Foundation National Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year award, remains the highest paid track and field athlete according to the Forbes list. Bolt is ranked at number 32 in the world with earnings of US $32.5 million, or more than JA $4 billion.

According to Forbes, the Jamaican sprint legend who completed the unprecedented triple  treble of Olympic medals in Rio this summer, earned US $30 million from endorsements and $2.5 million from winnings. 

Portugal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo with earnings of US $88 million, Argentine star Lionel Messi $81.4 million and American basketballer Lebron James at $77.2 million, occupy the top three spots.

American tennis star Serena Williams remains the highest paid female athlete at number 40 at $28.9 million.
