Mid-fielders Kaka of AC Milan and Liverpool’s duo Luiz Feipe and Phillippe Coutinho are among the absentees from World Cup host Brazil's 23-man squad.
Robinho was also an omission from the squad announced on Wednesday by coach Luiz Felipe "Big Phil" Scolari who has opted for most of the players who won the Confederations Cup last year.
Seventeen of the 23 players are from that squad with a surprise pick being Napoli defender Henrique.
The squad also includes six premiere league players: Tottenham’s Paulinho, Manchester City’s Fernandinho and Chelsea’s quartet of Oscar, David Luiz, Willian and Ramires.
Host Brazil will be aiming to win the title for a record sixth time.
Brazil will open the tournament against Group A opponents Croatia on Thursday June 12. The World Cup runs until Sunday July 13.
