CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani and CONCACAF‘s Director of Football Horace Reid have moved to dispel any notion of a conflict with the presidency of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU).

The confederation's Jamaican office was ceremonially opened on Wednesday but there was no sight of the CFU president Gordon Derrick

“The Director of Caribbean football is an operational position. Horace (Reid) will run through his office the official competitions , U-17, U-20 and senior competitions that lead to Gold Cup. The CFU president is an elected position it’s a political position. But we will be working together with the CFU in terms of their input as it relates to some of the technical and protocol requirements,” said Montagliani.

According to Reid: “It’s two different roles. The mission of the offices is to get closer to the members as is the case in Central America where there’s an office that serves the seven countries of Central America”.
