Jamaica’s three time world championship 100 metre hurdles medalist Delloreen Ennis says her split from former coach and estranged husband Lincoln London was not a bitter move.
Ennis has been working out with new coach American coach Brooks Johnson for the past three weeks at his base in Orlando.
“It's not the issue that I just went ahead and made this sudden move. I spoke to him about it because one of my major issues was technical and he admitted himself that he wasn’t too much of a technical person because we both started off running track together, so he wasn’t like a coach per se, we just tried it and it worked and I stuck with it,
“But as I go on I realize that there are other things that I need to work on and he couldn’t really provide me with that, so that’s why I made the move,” she said.
Ennis has been consistently ranked amongst the top hurdlers in the world for the past 11 years and hopes her coaching change can give her renewed motivation to win gold in the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Daegu and in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
National men's 110 hurdles record holder Dwight Thomas and many time national 400 meter champion Novlene Williams-Mills are also in Johnson's camp.
