Dockery highlights Day 1 of 'Champs 2025'

Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia High produced the standout performance on the opening day of the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championship as she sped to a personal best 11.12 seconds to lead the qualifiers from the preliminary round of the Class 1 girls 100m.

Doniella Lewis of Holmwood Technical and Jounee Armstrong of Edwin Allen were the next best qualifiers both with 11.59 seconds. 

In the Class 1 boyz 100m Lacovia's Rushawn Smith defeated a jogging Gary Card of Wolmer’s High School in a time of 10.31 seconds.

Calabar’s Shaquane Gordon also made it through to the next round with a time of 10.48 seconds. Defending Class 1 400m champion Marcinho Rose 47.95, topped all qualifiers heading into the semi-finals.

In the girls’ equivalent Hydel’s Abigail Campbell sped to 53. 94 to qualify with the fastest time. Edwin Allen’s Kelly-Ann Carr's 54.60 second was next best followed by Shevaughn Thomas of Vere Technical 54.67 seconds. Meanwhile, 17 finals are scheduled to be contested on day 2 of the championships.
