1976 Olympic 200 metre Gold Medalist , Donald Quarrie, is using the accompanying cash prize from his award at the RJR Sports Foundation ceremony to help student athletes.
Those from the school in Harbour View named after the Olympian - Donald Quarrie High School - will benefit.
Quarrie was the Sagicor Iconic award recipient at this year's ceremony. The award came with a cash prize of 200-thousand dollars which he could donate to a charity or cause of his choice.
Ten years after Hurricane Dean, the school continues to reel from the hurricane's effects.
The sea reclaimed acres of land previously used for sports.
