Two time former champion jockey Shane Ellis was the toast of Caymanas Park on Saturday, guiding home four winners from five mounts including the feature event on the 10-race programme.
Ellis piloted the 8-5 second choice Will In Charge to come-from-behind victory in the Owen Silverra Memorial Cup for Open Allowance runners over a mile. Will In Charge came home ahead of Superluminal, Prolific Princess and Lord Equus completing the frame.
Ellis' other winners on the programme were the even-money favourite Heat It Up in the second event; 6-5 choice Sweet Peppa in race 7 and Counter Attack who created a mild upset in the 8th event at 6-1.
Ellis who is lying second in the jockey’s championship, moved his tally for the season to 31 wins, with reigning champion Omar Walker who had one win, stretching his tally to 55. No trainer had more than one win on the day's programme. Racing continues next Saturday.
