Former FIFA referee Cardella Samuels is the new head of referees in Jamaica. Samuels replaced Victor Stewart who has stepped down after four years as the head of the refereeing department at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

Samuels was the second Jamaican woman to be appointed as a FIFA referee following Paulette Riley. Samuels did 13 years at the top before deciding to call time on her career as a whistle blower.

At age 40, Samuels has turned to a “9 to 5” as a result of injuries which just couldn't be treated. Samuels last game as a referee was back in 2019 between Portmore United and Mount Pleasant Academy.
