Sunshine Girls captain and top goal-shooter Jhaniele Fowler and her West Coast Fever team were in record breaking form, beating the Sunshine Coast Lightning 80-56 in the Suncorp Netball League at the weekend in Brisbane.
The 80 goals registered equalled the league record shared by the Lightning and New South Wales Swifts. Fowlers' outstanding season continued when she netted 57 goals from 58 attempts. The Fever held quarterly leads of 20-17; 44-25 and 63-36.
Meanwhile, another Sunshine Girls goal-shooter Romelda Aiken, led the Queensland Firebirds to an exciting 54-53 win over Jamaican teammate Shamera Sterling and the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Aiken registered 40 goals from 44 attempts. The Melbourne Vixens are atop the table on 32 points after 9 games, while the West Coast Fever are 4th on 16. The Thunderbirds are 6th on 12 and the Firebirds are 7th on 10.
