Jamaican Chris Gayle hit a world record 18 sixes as he led the Rangpur Riders to the Bangladesh Premier League title over the Dhaka Dynamites. The West Indies big hitter beat his previous record of 17 sixes in 2013 as he smashed an unbeaten 146 not out off 69 deliveries.
Man-of-the-Match Gayle along with Brendan McCullum's 51 not out helped Rangpur make 206-1 in 20 overs. In reply, the Dynamites were restricted to 149-9 off their 20 overs with Trinidadians Evin Lewis and Sunil Narine making 15 and 14 respectively.
Gayle who was also named Player-of-the-Tournament, became the first player to reach 20 T-20 centuries and the first to pass 11,000 runs in Twenty20s. It's also Gayle's first franchise T20 final win since the Jamaica Tallawahs in 2016.
