Heart wrenching moments for Foster-Hylton in 100m hurdles

World Champion Brigitte Foster-Hylton was a picture of gut wrenching disappointment after hitting a hurdle ending her Olympic dream.

Foster-Hylton shot out of the blocks in heat 6.

She was leading the field when she hit hurdle number 5, stumbled to the side and valiantly tried to recover.

Despite her disappointment she finished the race.

She place seventh in 13.98 secs.

A distraught Foster-Hylton, tears streaming down her face was inconsolable.

37 year old Foster-Hylton is Jamaica’s  premier sprint hurdler and has been representing Jamaica for more than 12 years.

 She cemented her world No.1 status in the 100m Hurdles in 2009 to win gold at the World Championhsips.

In July she recorded a 12.51 season best - the third fastest time this season.

Her coach Stephen Francis in an interview before leaving for the Olympics had high hopes for her securing  her first spot on the Olympic podium stating that she was in excellent shape.
