Henry the only Windies player drafted for 2026 WPL

Jamaican all-rounder Chinelle Henry was the only West Indian player bought on Thursday's opening day of auction for next year's Women's Premier League (WPL).


Henry was snapped up by the Dehli Capitals for 13 million rupees of approximately JM $23.2 million. She represented the Up Warriorzin the last edition of the WPL.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma, whose Player-of-the-Tournament performance helped India win the World Cup earlier this month, attracted the highest price at the auction. She signed to the UP Warriorz for 32 million rupees.

The 2026 edition of the WPL is set to take place from January 9 to February 5 in Mumbai and Vadodara. The final will be held two days before India co-hosts the Men's T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka.
