Now that the dust has settled on the performances from the National Senior Trials, the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) is finializing the selection of the nation's team for the Paris Olympics.
However, the finalization of world ranking places may force the national association to alter its written criteria.
When the JAAA sent out its selection criteria for Paris, Section 7 caught many people's attention, as it expressedly stated that no more than five quota athletes would be selected for Jamaica's team.
Seven Jamaicans have qualified based on world rankings and quota places. Hammer thrower Nayoka Clunis, long jumpers Chanice Porter and Ackelia Smith, shot put thrower Lloydricia Cameron and discus thrower Samantha Hall are the athletes qualified by world rankings on the women's side.
Triple jumper Jordan Scott and high jumper Romaine Beckford are the men who have qualified based on world rankings.
Radio Jamaica Sports understands that the JAAA is to have a press briefing on Monday to announce the members of Jamaica's athletics team.
