Jamaica lose to Leewards at CWI Rising Stars U17 Championship

Jamaica went down to the Leeward Islands by 1 wicket under the Duckworth Lewis Stern method in their latest game at the CWI Rising Stars Under-17 Championship in Trinidad on Tuesday. In the match reduced to 35 overs per side due to rain, Jamaica posted 186-8 after being sent in to bat.

Demarco Scott led the way with a knock of 57 from 53 balls including 6 fours and a six, while Odane Binns hit 39 from 32 deliveries. The two shared in a 79 run partnership for the 4th wicket, in helping the Jamaicans to recover from 67-3. Kasim Challenger bagged 3-31 and Kunal Tilokani 2-19.

Captain Tanez Francis cracked a century at the top of the order, the first in this year's competition, getting 110 off 94 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes, as the Leewards got to victory at 197-9 in 34 overs, having been set 197.

There was a scare for the Leewards who collapsed from 174-2 in the 29th over to 193-8 in the 33rd over. Adrian Silvera bagged 5-26, while Ryan Littleton took 2-44 in a losing cause for Jamaica.
