Jamaica now has a foot into the men's 4x100 metre relay at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September after clocking 37.80 seconds to win at Saturday's London Diamond League meet and move up the qualification ladder.
Following three previous failed attempts, the quartet of Rohan Watson, Oblique Seville, Kadrian Goldson and Kishane Thompson finished ahead of Great Britain-1 38.08 seconds and the Netherlands 38.17 seconds.
Jamaica needed to run faster than 38.40 seconds to move into one of the two non-automatic qualifying spots. The qualification window will close on August 24.
In the meantime, Seville made a big statement on his Diamond League debut after winning the men's 100m at Saturday’s meet.
Seville ran a blistering 9.86 seconds to beat world and Olympic champion Noah Lyles who finished second in 10 seconds flat. This was a third win for Seville against Lyles in their last four meetings.
