Jamaica won their third gold medal of the Cadet Table Tennis tournament at the National Arena, beating the Dominican Republic in the girls Under-11 doubles final on Wednesday. The team of Dana Prednergast and Shamoy Lamont defeated the Dominican Republic pair of Shary Munoz and Arianna Estrella in a thrilling five setter.
The 5th seeded Jamaicans served and smashed their way to a 9-11, 12-10, 2-11, 11-4, 11-6 win over the number one seed, the Dominican Republic. Earlier, Trinidad and Tobago took the mixed doubles Under-13 title, beating the Dominican Republic 3-2.
However, the Dominican Republic captured the Under-11 mixed doubles title. They also captured the boys Under-13 team title, defeating the Jamaicans in the final of that event. Jamaica's Under-13 girls finished 3rd in the Under-13 team championship.
The week-long competition takes a rest day on Thursday with the regional conference set to take place at the University of Technology.
