England have taken a 1-0 lead over the West Indies in their 3-match One Day International (ODI) series following their massive 238 run victory in game 1 at Edgbaston on Thursday.
England who were sent in to bat, rattled up 400-8 off their 50 overs with Man of the Match Jacob Bethell top scoring with 82, while Ben Duckett got 60, Harry Brook 58 and Joe Root 57 against Jayden Seales 4-84, Justin Greaves 2-68 and Alzarri Joseph 2-69.
The West Indies in reply could only muster 162 in 26.2 overs, as Seales top scored with an unbeaten 29. There were three wickets each for Saquib Mahmood and Jamie Overton.
The victory meant the home team ended a dismal 18-month run in white-ball cricket, as it halted a seven-match losing streak in ODIs. The English can also break a run of four straight series defeats by winning game 2 in Cardiff on Sunday.
