Half centuries from Leonardo Friginette, Michael Frew and Abijhai Mansingh led Jamaica to a crucial 23 run win over the Leeward Islands which improved their chances of reaching the final of the WICB Regional Under 19 competition.
Friginette, 60, Frew 56 and Mansingh 53 helped Jamaica post a formidable 267 for 6 off their 50 overs at Jamalco. Spinner Tyrone Williams took 4 for 53 for the Leewards.
In reply, the Leewards were bowled out for 244 in 47.5 overs, despite an impressive 97 from Alzarri Joseph. Miguel Smith was the best of the bowlers with 4 for 53 and Odean Smith 3 for 47 as Jamaica move on to a must win game against Barbados on Friday.
At Ewarton, leaders Guyana advanced to the final with an 85 run win over the Windward Islands. The Guyanese first posted 257 all out then the Windwards were bowled out for 172 off 39.3 overs, with Kassem Khan taking 4 for 32.
And at Manchester High, Barbados whipped guest team Canada by 151 runs.
The Bajans posted 272 for 4 thanks to a century from Vice Captain Leniko Boucher and 91 from Lee-Germon Gaskin .
The Canadians were skittled out for 121 in 33.1 overs with Keon Harding taking 3 for 30.
