Jamaica to face Panama in pro-am boxing contest

The talented Kestna Davis and Nico Yeyo headline the six fight pro-am card with Jamaica versus Panama on Saturday, May 27 at the Barbican Beach Sports Complex.

The Jamaica Boxing Board along with Creative Sports Promotion, launched their series of three pro-am fighting cards starting with three local boxers who made their professional debut this year.

Southpaw Davis who began his professional career on a winning after beating Fabian Tucker on the promotional tour of the Contender Series in March, will be given another chance to showcase his talent against veteran Anthony ‘Journeyman’ Osbourne in a middleweight fight over 5 rounds.

Yeyo who lost to Dave Leblond a week ago in the Contender Series, gets another chance against tucker over 5 rounds in a junior middleweight contest.

Meanwhile, Jamaica will face Panama in four amateur bouts as both countries give their boxers much needed time in the ring before July's World Championship qualifier in Costa Rica.

The Jamaican team will be represented by 2017 MVP Marvin Shae who takes on Jonathan Miniel in a lightweight clash; national middleweight champion Jonathan Hanson opposes Leonel Guttierrez; Sanjay Williams will face Luis Hernandez in another lightweight bout and Ricardo Brown clashes with Ronaldo Bermudez in a super heavyweight contest.
