Jamaica to play off for fifth at FIBA Centrobasket U17 Championship

Jamaica can only finish as high as 5th in the FIBA Under 17 Centrobasket Championship in Mexico after one win and a loss over a 12 hour period.

The Jamaicans stormed to an easy 81-59 win over Aruba in their first placement game on Saturday, thanks to a game high 29 points and 9 rebounds from standout player London Johnson. Marcus McDonald wasn't far behind notching 28 points and 8 steals in the victory.

However, the Jamaicans were humbled in their final group game on Friday night after being beaten 103-67 by the Dominican Republic to end up in the placement stage.

Johnson who had back to back 40 point games to start the tournament, was again the leading scorer last night with 37 points and 6 rebounds.
