Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) president Christopher Samuda says despite the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games to 2021, he stills expects National Olympic Committees to collect their allottment of funding from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) this year.

Several international federations such World Athletics and International Swimming Federation are set to request an early payment of sums they expected to receive from the IOC from the Games, as the postponement has created cash-flow challenges.

While not stating that they will be asking for an early payment of the funds, Samuda says the JOA still expects the funds this year. Meanwhile, Samuda who is also president of the Jamaica Paralympic Association, says even with cash flow problems arising from the postponement, he remains confident the Paralympic Games will be staged next year.
