The expected close fight is taking shape in the boy's section after three days of the 2016 ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Entering Friday’s fourth and penultimate day, Kingston College's advantage has been whittled down to less than a point after seven finals. They will start on 41 points, just ahead of Jamaica College on 40.5.

Defending champions Calabar on 28.5, Petersfield 27 and St Jago 24 round out the top five.

The record tally for the championship went to four after Christopher Taylor lowered former Calabar athlete, Ramone McKenzie's 9 year old class two 200 metres record of 20.89 seconds to post 20.80 seconds.

Taylor was setting his second record of the championships, having broken the class two 400m record on the opening day.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Edwin Allen took command of the girl's section, opening up a 14 point advantage.

Edwin Allen have 47 points to be  ahead of Hydel 33 with Excelsior 26, Holmwood 24 and St Jago 23, completing the top five after six finals.

24 finals  will be contested on Friday including the 100m, 1500m and 400m hurdles. Live coverage will be on TVJ, TVJSN, HITZ 92 FM and onespotmedia.com.
