Despite setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jamaica basketball team is confident of accomplishing great things at the Central American and Caribbean pre-qualifiers for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup set for El Salvador from April 15-19.
They will start the hunt for a spot at the FIBA World Cup in two years' time with the event also being a gateway to qualification for an Olympic berth at Paris 2024.
Despite being the number one ranked team at the tournament, assistant coach Rohan Robinson says they will be taking nothing for granted.
The other teams listed to compete are Costa Rica, Guyana, Nicaragua and the host nation El Salvador.
Jamaica will open its account against Costa Rica on Thursday. Should the Jamaicans finish in the top 3, they will advance to round two in July.
