Radio Jamaica Sports understands that a logistical foul-up by Cricket West Indies (CWI) has resulted in Excelsior High School and Jamaica youth leg spinner Tamarie Redwood missing the majority of the West Indies Under-19 tour of Sri Lanka.
Redwood who was the leading wicket taker in the ISSA T20 competition, was one of six Jamaicans selected for the tour of the Asian country.
However, upon reaching immigration officers in Trinidad and Tobago, he could not board the flight due to issues with his passport.
It's understood that Redwood's passport is due to expire in less than 6 months and as such, was denied entry due to Sri Lankan laws.
Radio Jamaica Sports was reliably informed that CWI officials were told of the issue by the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) upon Redwood's selection.
The local governing body was then advised that the overarching body would secure landing in Sri Lanka for the leg spinner but on the day of departure that was not the case.
It's further understood that Redwood was stranded in Trinidad for two weeks but will leave on Wednesday with a CWI official for Sri Lanka following diplomatic interventions by Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
The West Indies lost their three match youth ODI series 2-1 to Sri Lanaka and are currently playing the first of two youth test matches.
The coaching staff is hoping that Redwood will be able to play the final youth test and given a chance to impress for the final squad ahead of next year's World Cup.
