Melbourne Cricket Club marched into the semi-finals of the JCA all-island 50 over competition with a comprehensive 187 run win over Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) at Up Park Camp on Sunday.
Guyanese and Jamaica Scorpions player Trevon Griffith smashed 237 with 21 fours and 14 sixes and shared in a 202 run second wicket stand with Sadiki Bolt who made 62 as Melbourne posted a mammoth 407-7 from their 50 overs.
In reply, the JDF folded for 220 with Bolt returning to bag 5-43 as Jermaine Harrison top-scored with 55. Melbourne will battle St Catherine CC in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Kingston CC also advanced to the semi-finals with a comfortable 77 run win over St Thomas at Kensington Park.
Kingston first posted 265 all out with Kirk Harris scoring 82 and Aaron Johnson 74 against Omar Brooks 4-60. In reply, St Thomas could only muster 188 all out with former West Indies Under-19 player Odean Smith bagging 6-50.
Kingston will face Kensington in the other semi-final on Saturday.
