Mixed results for Jamaicans at Doha Diamond League

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson posted a season's best 10.93 seconds but finished 3rd in the women's 100m in the first Diamond League event in Doha on Friday. Thompson finished behind Marie Josee Ta-Lou of the Ivory Coast in a world-leading 10.85 and Blessing Okagbare was 2nd in 10.90. 


The other Jamaican Jura Levy was 8th in a season's best 11.29. Meanwhile, 2015 world champion Danielle Williams clocked 12.82 in the women's sprint hurdles to finish 5th behind world record holder Kendra Harrison in 12.53 seconds and Brianna Rollins-McNeal second in 12.58. Olympic and world 110m hurdles champion Omar McLeod who was scheduled to run the men's 200m was pulled after abductor soreness. 

His management agency confirmed McLeod is recovering and will return to the track soon. The other Jamaican Rasheed Dwyer finished 8th in 20.72 seconds behind American Noah Lyles in a personal best and meet record 19.83. Shanghai will host the next Diamond League event next Saturday.
