There is more disappointing news for Jamaican and other Caribbean cricketers looking to feature in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL), this as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the Twenty20 tournament indefinitely because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The decision follows the extension of the nationwide lockdown by the Indian Government until May 3, which means there was no possibility of hosting the event in the regular summer window. The BCCI has not set a new window yet for the tournament, which was to be held between March 29 and May 24 originally.
This leaves the tournament's stakeholders, including the players, facing a big setback as none of the IPL players will receive any money until the tournament actually takes place.
Jamaicans Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas and Fabian Allen are among the 12 Caribbean men contracted for the 2020 IPL season.
