4-time Jamaican champion jockey Dane Nelson continued his brilliant form in Canada over the weekend with five winners over two days at Century Downs in Alberta including a 4-timer on Saturday.
Nelson underlined his dominance of Saturday's 10-race programme with a natural hattrick from races 2 through to 4.
Those victories included two $50,000 stakes races highlighted by the 1-2 favourite and Horse of the Year in Alberta, Dance Shoes who recorded a commanding victory in the Alberta Fall Classic Distaff for 3 year old and up over 8 and a half furlongs. Dance Shoes was winning this event for the second year in a row.
Nelson is now leading the early race for the jockey's championship with 7 wins and stakes earnings of just over $100,000.
Meanwhile, another Jamaican jockey, Andre Martin, was also victorious at Century Downs on Sunday, winning the first event with the 9-5 choice Beaugatti over 8 and a half furlongs. The race had a purse of $10,000.
