23 year old Alia Atkinson will be hoping to create history on today's third day of competition at the Olympic Games in London.
She confirmed her place following a swim-off with Canada's Tera Van Beilen in 1:07:48
Earlier she set a national record time of 1:07.39 in the event.
She will line up in the women's 100 metre breaststroke final with the aim of securing the country's first ever swimming medal at an Olympic games.
Atkinson will swim out of lane eight.
She is also scheduled to compete in the 200m breaststroke and the 50m freestyle.
