Patterson makes winning return after recovering from injury

Jamaican jockey Javaniel Patterson has made a winning return to the Canadian circuit following a three month absence to recover from injuries suffered in late April.

Patterson was successful aboard his very first mount on his return to the saddle after guiding home the 10 year old chestnut gelding Captive Kitten in a 15-1 upset to close Tuesday night's 7 race card at Assiniboia Downs in Winnepeg.

The race was a claiming 3 year old and up contest over 7 furlongs on the dirt. Patterson was back in the winner's enclosure on Wednesday night courtesy of the even-money favourite Thustly Inspired who landed the first event on the 7-race programme over 6 furlongs in a driving finish. The 2025 season at Assiniboia Downs is set to end on October 8.
